Fence
March 2000
With the purpose of equipping South Bank Area, a leisure area in London, with a personal image where the passer-by could feel their stroll affabily , Waskman suggested a railing which reminded of the forms of a theater drop curtain , made of 42 mm. tempered crystal. Under this crystal a system of sensors and leds would be hidden; illuminating from the lower edge to the upper one, they would create a luminous blue strip which accompanied the passer-by in every moment during their walk by the river margin. The result is an industrial element with a great sculptural load, which provides the whole South Bank area with a strong and exclusive image.
